Things To Do in Ridgway, CO
Located in Ouray County, CO, Ridgway is a home rule municipality with a rich history. Initially serving nearby mining towns, it was once a railroad hub at the northern terminus of the Rio Grande Southern Railroad. The town, incorporated in 1891, was named after Robert M. Ridgeway, the Denver and Rio Grande railroad superintendent.
Steep forested mountains and cliffs are around the periphery of the Town of Ridgway to the south, east, and northeast. The area is known for its wildlife presence, including deer, elk, mountain lions, badgers, coyotes, wild turkeys, bald eagles, and bears, all indigenous to the area. The cottonwoods along the river are the nesting spot for the bald eagles, a common sight in the late fall. The Umcompahgre River is used for irrigation in the entire valley, being unnavigable except at high water.
Animas Asphalt takes pride in offering premium paving services to the charming town of Ridgway. Please call us today for expert guidance and quality results to help your property.
